Presentation

Hello everyone and welcome to my personal web site! My name is Carlos Lamsfus. Currently, I work as a senior researcher at the Human Mobility and Technology Laboratory at CICtourGUNE since the beginning of 2007, when I was employed to become part of the team that set up the research centre. Creating CICtourGUNE from scratch has been an incredible adventure. Apart from all the managing stuff I have had to do during this time, in terms of research I have been working on mobile applications for tourism and I am specially interested in context-awareness or contextual computing applied to tourism: develop new theory that supports context-awareness in tourism, context definition and modelling, semantic technologies, and so on.

I recently presented my dissertation at the University of Deusto. The title of my PhD is ”CONCERT: A New Framework for Contextual Computing in Tourism to Support Human Mobility”. The main objective of this research work is to set the way to make context-aware systems and applications available to every day public by establishing a new framework theory for context-awareness adapted to tourism. As a consequence, people en route can benefit from automatically receiving context-based tourism services in an anywhere, anytime manner. If you wish, we could discuss any of this issues in my blog. During this time and earlier, I have published some papers in international conferences and journals.

In addition, I am a member of the CIDOC CRM SIG, the CEN/ISSS eTOUR Workshop, Board Member of Harmonise, TTRA, a member of IFITT, the Spanish National Platform for Tourism and Technologies as well as for the rest of the most remarkable Spanish and European Technological platforms. I have been a reviewer for some conference and journal papers as well as a chair in conference sessions. I have delivered several talks in tourism mobile applications, interoperability and tourism in general.
